9 Reasons Why Introverts Hate Talking On The Phone

565

People used to believe that introverts were the only people who didn’t socialize with others. It goes beyond social communication. In my opinion, introverts are people who have a deeper perspective and understanding about life and people generally.

They tend to see things and relate to them on a deeper level, more than others. Besides excessive socialization, introverts hate talking on the phone. To some people, this may sound stupid, but they have their reasons.

Some of these reasons include:

IT’S A WASTE OF PRECIOUS TIME

Like most serious-minded people, introverts plan their time very well. Their time is very precious as there is always something to do at one point or another. A phone call takes up someone’s time, especially if the call was not expected.

For introverts, the long time they waste on phone calls can be channelled into doing something more productive. If you have something to say to them, meet them up in person instead.

IT STEALS YOUR ATTENTION

Introverts love spending time with themselves, on their own. And it is difficult to get that when there is a phone ringing none stop somewhere.

Sometimes, we just don’t feel like talking to anyone, but when someone calls on the phone, you have to answer or respond. Who knows, it might end up being important or a case of life and death.

IT CAN BE HARD TO END THE CALL

Nothing can be as annoying as someone calling with no intention to hang up anytime soon. The call can go on for hours and hours, taking up a lot of time and effort from the introvert.

The introvert on their end may not want to sound rude by ending the call abruptly or simply hanging up. For this reason, the next time such person calls, it will take a lot of effort for the introvert to respond next time.

PLENTY OF SMALL TALK

It takes a lot of willpower not to hang up on someone who just called to tell you what their neighbour said about them, or how their pet died, or some other information that can obviously wait till they see you.

Phone calls are meant to be for passing across very serious information or for reaching out to a loved one.

But when the introvert constantly receives calls that talk about little or no relevant information, then they will have to reconsider on taking the next one.

NO ROOM FOR BODY AND FACIAL EXPRESSIONS

Introverts love being able to actually see who they are talking to. This way they can tell from your body language, whether you are being truth or not.

But with phone calls, such conditions are not available. You are only communicating through a device and for all you know, the other person may be lying to you. This makes introverts hate phone calls.

HARDLY ANY GOOD REASON

Besides knowing the right time to call, there should also be a good reason for calling. You cannot just pick up your phone and call someone because you want to discuss with them. If you really want to hand out with someone, don’t do it over the phone.

Make arrangements and meet them up in person. Introverts have a hard time responding to phone calls unless they have to.
