Man who stabbed a student to death for rejecting his marriage proposal to be hanged on live TV in Egypt

A judge has ruled that a man who stabbed a student to death when she turned down his marriage proposal should be hanged on LIVE TV in Egypt.

Mohamed Adel, 21, was found guilty of murdering his Mansoura University classmate Naira Ashraf when she turned him down, with the court sentencing him to death on July 6.

The court has now called for his execution to be broadcast live to deter similar crimes from happening in the future.

In its letter to Parliament, the court wrote: ‘The broadcast, even if only part of the start of proceedings, could achieve the goal of deterrence, which was not achieved by broadcasting the sentencing itself.’

Adel was captured in chilling footage attacking Ashraf outside Mansoura University near the Nile Delta on 20th June.

She was just about to sit her final exams, according to local media.

Ashraf died on the spot as angry passersby seized Adel while he was holding the knife and standing over her body, the video shows. She was stabbed several times, including on her neck and chest, local media said.

The knifeman had stalked the student and had resolved to kill her after she rejected his marriage proposal, the court heard.

Mansoura Courthouse preliminarily settled on the death penalty on June 28, confirming the sentence a week later.

An appeal stalled the verdict, which was made public on July 24. Now, the court has requested that the legislature change the statute governing capital punishment so that the execution might be aired live.

‘We still have 60 days to challenge death sentence against Adel,’ said the defendant’s lawyer Farid El-Deeb, who worked as the lead defence lawyer for late ex-president Hosni Mubarak.

  1. That not really what happened.
She was his girlfriend for some time, and he visited her family home and knew her single mother well and they were engaged to be married.
She travelled to another city to do some modelling work, and met the rich owner of an ad agency who said he loved her and wanted to marry her.
The girl and her mother welcomed the new opportunity with the wealthy man, but feared he would find out that she was already engaged to someone else, so they contacted the killer and told him that the engagement was over. The girls uncle took a step further and agreed with the girls mom that they would hire some thugs and assault the boyfriend/fiance and force him to sign documents that could land him in prison (sign that he borrowed a large amount of money from the mother).
The attackers went to the guys home, forced him to sign, violently attacked him, then stripped him naked and made a video sexually assaulting the young man, so that if he says he signed under duress they would release his rape video.
He knew that the girls mother was behind the attack and vowed that she would never see her daughter getting married to the other wealth man.
He attached and killed his ex-fiance and wanted to commit suicide but he was prevented when the onlookers grabbed him.
He did no kill her because she refused his marriage proposal, that’s just ridiculous.
Everyone knows his story and that is why one of the most famous lawyers (who defended ex president Hosni Mubarak) took his case free of charge.
He was sentenced to death , and showing his execution on TV is despicable.
