Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie could be poised for a significant shift in their royal roles as the monarchy adapts to a new era following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Though not officially working royals, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have become increasingly visible within the royal family. Both sisters have stepped up to support senior members of the Firm, including King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Just this week, Princess Eugenie joined Prince William and Princess Kate at a Buckingham Palace Garden party, where she turned heads in a glamorous polka dot dress by Rixo, channeling vintage Hollywood style.
While Princess Beatrice was unable to attend the event due to prior commitments in New York, she has also represented the royal family at major engagements, including last May’s appearance alongside Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips.
Beatrice has also made strides into more public-facing roles, including her first live television interview on 7 May last year—an indication that the palace may be open to the sisters having a more prominent presence.
According to royal commentator Richard Eden of the Daily Mail, there is growing speculation that the Princesses may take on greater responsibilities, particularly in light of the slimmed-down monarchy and the absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
While no official changes have been confirmed, sources suggest that a shift in their status as non-working royals could be on the horizon. In the meantime, Beatrice and Eugenie are expected to continue representing the Crown at key events and offering support where needed.
