Canada seems to be the place of choice for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The royals spent the festive season on Vancouver Island with their son- Archie and while their recent announcements is looked into by members of the Royal family and the government, the couple have chosen the country to be their current residential home.

Here’s a list of possible reasons why the Sussex obviously loves Canada.

"We never went longer than two weeks without seeing each other, even though we were obviously doing a long-distance relationship. So it's... we made it work." -Meghan said in their engagement interview.

Meghan, speaking to diplomats said: "My goodness it was just such an incredible time we were able to have there and with our son too. And just to be able to take in the warmth that we experienced from the people also just walk around and just see the beauty of Canada. To see Archie go 'ahh' when you walk by and just see how stunning it is, so it meant a lot to us." The royals spent their first Thanksgiving and Christmas with their eight-month-old son Archie staying in British Columbia and were seen hiking on Vancouver Island, with friends from Tv Show, Suits.

  1. Meghan Markle spent a long time living and working in Toronto while filming US legal drama Suits. She made strong friendships with Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney, who is married to Ben Mulroney, son of former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney.
