The dad-of-three, also shared
that he had gotten “choked up” over-seeing all the various Paddington
Bear-themed tributes to Her Majesty, in reference to a sketch she filmed
alongside the popular bear for her Platinum Jubilee.

Speaking about his emotions
surrounding this, the Prince added: “It is the things you don’t expect that get
to you.”

He later joked that there was
a new competition between Paddington Bear and corgis over their links to the
late queen, adding that “the corgis have been there longer”.

These comments were made while
the Prince and Princess of Wales took part in their first public
engagement after the Queen had been laid to rest in St George’s Chapel,
Windsor.

The engagement is also one of
their first since William became first in line to the throne and became known
as the Prince of Wales, after the death of his grandmother and the accession of
his father, Charles, to become the King.

Alongside his new role as the
heir to the throne, William also inherited the title Duke of Cornwall and is
now the Duke of Cornwall and Cambridge, while Kate inherited the title once
borne by William’s mother Princess Diana, as she became the Princess of
Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.

During their outing Kate spoke to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead
volunteer ambassadors, asking if many of those who had formed the crowd leading
to Windsor Castle on the day of the funeral, were from the area or had
travelled to witness this historic occasion.

They told the Princess that
people had travelled from all over to see the procession, to which she replied:
“It’s amazing how many people wanted to come and pay their respects.”
