Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal s*x-trafficking trial officially began today, May 12, in Manhattan with opening statements and the start of witness testimony.
Combs’ mother, Janice, and his children were seen arriving at Manhattan Federal Court as the proceedings got underway.
Among the alleged victims expected to testify is R&B singer Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s former longtime girlfriend, who was captured in a disturbing 2016 hotel surveillance video—released last year—being beaten and kicked by the music mogul.
Combs, 55, has pleaded not guilty to charges that include one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution.
If convicted, he faces a potential life sentence.
