India has launched an attack on nine sites in Pakistani-controlled territory on Wednesday after missile strikes rained down in nine locations.
The attack comes amid heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours in the aftermath of an attack on Hindu tourists in Indian Kashmir last month.
The missile strikes resulted in the death of 8 people and 35 people injured.
Pakistan said India first launched missiles across three locations – Muzaffarabad and Kotli, both in Kashmir, as well as Bahawalpur in Pakistan.
India’s Home Minister has since praised his country’s armed forces after the attacks, saying he was ‘proud’.
Amit Shah claimed Operation Sindoor is the nation’s response to ‘the brutal killing of our innocent brothers in Pahalgam’.
He said: ‘The Modi government is resolved to give a befitting response to any attack on India and its people.
‘Bharat remains firmly committed to eradicating terrorism from its roots.’
China finds India’s military operation egrettable. We are concerned about the ongoing situation,’ a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
‘India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbours. They’re both China’s neighbours as well.
“China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation.’
