King Charles’s Sole Wish After Prince Harry’s Shocking Interview

As the royal family prepares to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day, King Charles has one simple yet profound wish: that the focus of the week’s events remains on remembrance, not on the ongoing divisions within the royal family.

The VE Day events, which begin on Monday and culminate in a national service at Westminster Abbey, come just days after Prince Harry’s explosive BBC interview, where he made several bombshell revelations.

A palace aide shared on Sunday, “The King, Queen, and other members of the royal family are looking forward to all of the VE Day events. They will join the rest of the nation and the Commonwealth in celebrating and honoring the wartime generation, whose selfless devotion to duty serves as an enduring example for us all.”

The commemorations include a military parade through London, a tea party for veterans at Buckingham Palace, and a celebratory concert at Horse Guards Parade. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with other senior royals, are expected to attend.

Despite ongoing cancer treatment, King Charles is determined to be present at key moments, especially the national service on May 8 at Westminster Abbey.

Aides have emphasized that out of deep respect for the veterans in attendance, Buckingham Palace hopes that “nothing will detract or distract” from the tone of remembrance and the focus on honoring those who served.
