Michelle Obama opened up about the little quirks of married life with former President Barack Obama during a recent appearance on the Good Hang podcast with Amy Poehler — and yes, the thermostat wars are very real.
“Sometimes I get into bed and I’m freezing. Other times, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, take my skin off,’” she laughed, describing their nighttime temperature tug-of-war.
According to Page Six, the former First Lady, 61, revealed that Barack is “always cold,” which means she’s often accusing him of sneaking over to the thermostat.
“Sometimes I wake up hot and I’m like, ‘You touched it, didn’t you?’ Now he’s actually scared of the thermostat,” she joked.
Michelle prefers “cool sheets” and keeping the room at 68 degrees, while Barack, a known night owl, is usually told to “just put on some socks.”
She also shared their bedtime routine: dinner by 6:30 p.m., catching up on the day, and lights out by 8 p.m.
“My head hits the pillow and I’m out cold. No sleep aids necessary — just the pillow.”
Michelle admitted she can tease Barack, but the feeling isn’t quite mutual. Still, she, Malia, and Sasha keep the family banter light and loving.
“When I tease you, it’s like a love tap,” she said. No drama — just real love and a little thermostat tension.
