Royal watchers are in agreement after King Charles and Queen Camilla unveiled two striking new portraits on Tuesday to mark the second anniversary of their coronation in May 2022.
The commissioned state portraits, now part of the Royal Collection, were revealed during a visit to the National Portrait Gallery, where they will be displayed in the Central Hall until 5 June before moving to their permanent home in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace.
King Charles’s portrait was painted by Peter Kuhfeld, while Queen Camilla’s was created by Paul S. Benney — both artists personally known to the royal couple and previously involved in royal commissions.
The new artworks continue a long-standing tradition of coronation state portraits, with fans quick to show their appreciation online.
“Stunning! Love them both,” commented one fan on the Royal Family’s official Instagram account.
“Beautiful portraits of them both,” added another, complete with applause emojis.
A third shared: “Wonderful portraits — God bless King Charles and Queen Camilla and long may they reign.”
It’s clear the portraits were met with widespread admiration from the public, many praising their elegance and regal presence.
