Kim Kardashian gave harrowing testimony on Tuesday, May 13, as she faced the men accused of robbing her at gunpoint in a Paris hotel room in 2016. The reality star, now 44, recounted the terrifying moments of the attack, stating she was convinced she would be raped and possibly killed.
“I absolutely did think I was going to die,” Kardashian told the court. She described how one of the robbers pulled her by the arm, causing her robe to fall open and “exposing everything on my body.”
“I was certain that was the moment he would rape me,” she said. “I said a prayer to mentally prepare myself.”
Instead, her legs were bound together, and she was thrown onto the bed. Kardashian said she pleaded with the assailants, repeatedly telling them, “I have babies, and I need to get home to my babies.” At one point, she believes one of the men told her to “shut up.”
Although it eventually became clear the men were focused on stealing her jewelry, Kardashian said the fear for her life never faded. She worried her mother, Kris Jenner, and sister, Kourtney Kardashian, might find her dead.
“I thought I would be shot dead on the bed, and she [Kourtney] would walk in and have that memory forever,” she testified.
As the robbers made their escape, one of them dropped her on the bathroom floor. Kardashian said she waited several minutes before freeing her hands, then hopped to her stylist’s room to seek help.
Reflecting on the trauma, Kardashian told the court she had previously felt safe in Paris, but now travels with four to six bodyguards at all times—even at home in California.
Ten suspects are currently on trial in connection with the robbery, which involved the theft of $10 million worth of jewelry. Dubbed the “Grandpa Gang” by French media due to their ages and criminal histories, several of the accused men are in their 60s and 70s.
