The Greater Accra Regional Police have arrested 30-year-old Mavis Nkrumah for allegedly attacking her ex-boyfriend with acid during a confrontation over their recent breakup.

According to police reports, the incident occurred after Nkrumah and 29-year-old taxi driver Gideon Frimpong agreed to meet and discuss lingering issues following the end of their relationship. What began as a conversation quickly escalated into a heated argument, during which Nkrumah allegedly doused Frimpong with a corrosive substance.

Frimpong sustained severe chemical burns and was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he is currently being treated. Hospital officials have confirmed that while his condition is stable, he will require extensive ongoing care due to the seriousness of the injuries.

Nkrumah reportedly attempted to flee the scene after the attack but was apprehended by police shortly after. She is currently in custody as authorities continue their investigation.

The motive behind the attack is still being probed, but police sources say it appears to be directly linked to the couple’s recent breakup and unresolved emotional tensions.
