Brad Pitt made a rare and candid confession during a recent appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, where he reflected on his past, his journey with sobriety, and his relationship with girlfriend Ines de Ramon.
In a lighthearted moment, the 61-year-old actor joked about never having had a same-sex experience. “You know, I’ve never had a gay experience. I kind of missed that window, but if I did, it wouldn’t be you,” Brad quipped to Dax, sparking laughter between the two.
Their conversation quickly took a more serious tone as they discussed their shared experience with alcoholism. Pitt revealed that he began attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings following his highly publicized split from Angelina Jolie in 2016.
“I was pretty much on my knees,” he admitted. “I had to wake the [expletive] up in some areas. I was trying anything and everything people recommended. It was a really difficult time—I needed a full reboot.”
He went on to describe how transformative his time in AA became: “It gives you permission to say, ‘OK, I’m going to step out on this edge and see what happens.’ And I really grew to love it.”
Brad also praised Dax’s work on the podcast and his openness about his own sobriety. “I thought it was incredible—men sharing their flaws, missteps, desires, pain… and doing it all with a sense of humor. That’s powerful.”
