Lizzo made a show-stopping appearance at the BET Awards on Monday night, turning heads with a sleek and bold new look at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater.
The 37-year-old singer, born Melissa Jefferson, donned a form-fitting black leather corset and matching mini dress that highlighted her recent weight loss. She completed the look with sparkling diamond accessories and a chic platinum blonde hairstyle, posing for photos alongside fellow chart-topper SZA.
Though she skipped the red carpet, Lizzo was a standout inside the venue, where she mingled with stars including B2K’s Lil’ Fizz, J-Boog, and Omarion. Social media quickly lit up with praise for her look, with fans calling her “ravishing” and “fierce.”
However, the evening wasn’t without controversy. Some viewers criticized the production for cutting to Lizzo immediately after a diabetes-related joke from hosts Kevin Hart, Druski, and Kai Cenat, calling the timing “tone-deaf” and “insensitive.”

Lizzo on Her Health Journey
Lizzo’s appearance follows her candid conversation on The Jason Lee Show, where she opened up about her ongoing health and wellness journey. While she chose not to disclose the exact number of pounds lost since beginning her transformation in 2023, she spoke honestly about the public’s reaction.
“I think it was crazy to people because I was fat,” she said. “The shocking part was that people couldn’t believe someone who looked like me could be that confident.”
Addressing speculation online, Lizzo said she avoids sharing specific figures because of the wild assumptions circulating on social media. “I’ve seen TikToks saying I lost 500 pounds—it’s wild,” she said. “Why are y’all putting numbers on me? It kind of annoys me.”
Back in January, Lizzo celebrated a personal milestone with her followers on Instagram, revealing she had reached a weight she hadn’t seen in a decade. “Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to,” she wrote. “Time for new goals!”
With her bold BET Awards look and unapologetic confidence, Lizzo continues to redefine beauty on her own terms—and inspire fans along the way.
