Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife were found dead inside their Los Angeles mansion.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the couple’s home at about 3.30pm on Sunday and found a man, 78, and a woman, 68, dead in the property.
Sources confirmed the victims were Rob and Michele Reiner and that they had suffered stab wounds.
The pair were found dead with their throats slit, according to TMZ. Detectives are treating the incident as a double homicide and investigators are quizzing an unnamed family member.
The couple’s daughter Romy, who lives across the street, is said to have made the grim discovery when she visited their sprawling six-bedroom estate yesterday afternoon.
The Reiners also had a son, Nick, 32, a screenwriter who has been known to have struggled with drug addiction and bouts of homelessness.
Nick has since been taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Monday at 5:46 am PST, according to online records viewed by The U.S. Sun.
He has since been charged with murder and is being held at Parker Center Jail on $4 million bail, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell announced during a press conference on Monday.
Michele had reportedly been bemoaning to friends over the past several months about Nick’s mental health and alleged drug issues.
She told friends that she and Rob had ‘tried everything’ to help Nick.
