Representatives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have dismissed reports of an impending apology to the Royal Family after criticising them during their Oprah Winfrey interview.
Meghan infamously claimed on TV in March 2021 that an unnamed royal had speculated about how dark their unborn son Prince Archie’s skin would be.
The claim on the CBS programme in the US plunged the monarchy into crisis as the Windsors faced allegations of racism during Queen Elizabeth II’s final months.

The Sussexes have never publicly said who made the comment, although Oprah later confirmed the duke told her it was neither Elizabeth nor her husband Prince Philip.
Royal author Omid Scobie, who is close to the Sussexes, then revealed in 2023 that Meghan named two royals involved in the conversations in private letters to the King.
He said he could not name them for legal reasons, but a Dutch translation of his book Endgame identified them as Charles and Kate. The publisher withdrew the edition, citing an error – and Mr Scobie denied having ever written a draft with the names.
This week, more than five years on from the bombshell Oprah interview, a report claimed that the couple are planning to apologise to the royals over the original claim.
An unnamed source told The Daily Express that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regretted their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview and wanted to arrange a sit-down apology with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Now, spokespeople for the couple firmly shot down the claims, telling royal editor Emily Nash that the rumors are completely untrue.
