Harry REVEALS string of pseudo-royal engagements in the UK as he and Meghan ‘refuses’ King’s letter

5

Prince Harry has announced a string of pseudo-royal appearances in the UK and US as he and Meghan hit back at King Charles for describing them as ‘private citizens’.

Despite the growing row, Harry is scheduled to attend at least three events this month, in what his team described as his ‘September public engagements’.

The Duke of Sussex will support charities on both sides of the Atlantic.

The programme includes a major awards event in London later this month before he flies to New York to appear at the annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting alongside former president Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary, Chrissy Teigen and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman during the United Nations General Assembly week.

It comes as Harry and Meghan were said to be surprised by the King’s formal letter sent by Lord Chamberlain

Sources close to the Sussexes have suggested the King’s assessment of them as ‘private citizens’ is unrealistic given their level of fame.

Speaking to People, the couple’s favoured US publication, an insider said: ‘Members of the public know who they are. The idea that they can live a normal, “private” life is sadly not realistic.’

One source suggested they should be viewed as ‘public figures’ rather than private citizens.

The Sussexes are waiting to hear whether they will be given taxpayer-funded security.
