Emotional Trauma

A lot of people walk around with baggage in their hearts and in their lives, most of them untreated. These emotional baggage, when present can prevent or inhibit someone from committing fully to a relationship. Because they have not been able to find relief from the emotional trauma they have been through, they remain haunted by it, and will always be emotionally distant from their partner until those issues are resolved.

Just like emotional trauma, depression places a block in your association with people, and that includes your friends, your family and even your partner. When someone is depressed, they believe that something is wrong with them. In their minds, they assume they can never be enough for anyone, and as such, they would rather stay away from people so they won’t see those insecurities they have.

Simply put, fear of the unknown makes people withdraw from others and lock themselves up. People who withdraw out of fear do so because they are scared of a lot of things. They are afraid of being judged, they are afraid of being rejected because of their flaws. Sometimes, we believe that people are avoiding us or that they are withdrawing from us, when in fact they are just tired. Stress and burnout can make someone seem like they are withdrawing from others. The truth however, is that they just need space and time to themselves to recover and bounce back.
