No, they were Northern Inuit dogs, an
unofficial (meaning unrecognized by any kennel clubs) breed developed in the UK
by crossing Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, and German Shepherds. They are
bred specifically to look like wolves.
Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) ended up adopting
Zunni, the dog who played Sansa’s dire wolf Lady, when her original owners
decided to rehome her, as she said she had genuinely bonded with the dog.
(Zunni has since passed away.)

I’m pretty sure the dogs only played them
when they were young. Poor Lady didn’t last long enough to reach her full-size
thanks to Cersei, so she was only played by Zunni. The other dire wolves, Ghost,
Grey Wind, etc., I’m pretty certain were mostly CGI when they were full size.

Ahhh, while it is a beautiful dog. Should we
really keep breeding all these dogs when so many are sitting in shelters and
getting euthanized because people want a purebred for God knows what reason? I
feel like it’s a slap in the face to these poor animals to pay thousands of
dollars for a dog when the pounds are literally overflowing with unwanted pets.
Please think about adopting. I know that the actress in this situation adopted
the dog but really crossing 3 purebred dogs to make a whole new breed that
looks like a wolf? There is a reason why wolves aren’t housed pets.

Quite a lot of responsible dog owners are
dismissed by rescue centers for stupid reasons, hence why they go and buy a dog
instead. I understand that they are trying to help match the dog to the correct
owner but some things can be changed. For example, you see the majority of the dogs
not being allowed to be adopted by anyone who has children under 12. Many of
them are puppies who could be adopted by a family so long as they are
responsible.
