An employee’s body was discovered in a walk-in freezer at an Arby’s fast food restaurant at New Iberia Lagniappe Village, Louisiana.
The victim was a worker at the Arby’s on E Admiral Doyle Drive in New Iberia, Louisiana, KADN reported on Friday.
‘So it was an employee that discovered the female deceased inside the cooler,’ said New Iberia police Capt Leland Laseter.
‘The deceased is an employee of the restaurant.’ Her identity has not been released.
A coroner’s vehicle arrived in the late night hours and took the body to the morgue for an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity and cause of death.
Her death is being considered suspicious, although investigators are not expecting to find foul play involved. ‘Nothing is set in stone yet,’ Laseter said.
‘A situation like this is unusual, so we’re taking extra precautions during the investigation.
‘(We) pretty much have completed our process at the crime scene. After completely processing the crime scene… this does not seem like a homicide, it seems like an accident.’
Investigators interviewed a few workers at the Arby’s. There have been no suspects named.
An autopsy has been conducted to determine the woman’s identity and cause of death.
‘We’re going to re-examine all the evidence tomorrow,’ Laseter said. ‘So there are a few more steps that we need to take before a determination is made.’
