A Georgia Judge Was Reportedly Filmed Shouting At A Police Officer Before Pushing Him Outside A Nightclub

Police in Atlanta have released footage of Christina Peterson’s arrest in the early hours of Thursday morning, showing her continuing to argue with officers in the back of a patrol car.

Peterson, a probate judge in Douglas County, Georgia, has been embroiled in controversy, including accusations of “systemic incompetence” in her official capacity.

In April, the Judicial Qualifications Commission unanimously recommended her removal from office following 30 counts of misconduct. The panel concluded that she disregarded courthouse protocols, mistreated staff, and made inappropriate social media posts.

One notable incident involved Peterson sentencing a woman to jail for attempting to correct her marriage certificate to reflect her newly discovered father’s real name. The woman served two days of a 20-day sentence before her husband paid the fine, prompting criticism from the panel for Peterson’s disproportionate response.

On Thursday morning, an Atlanta Police Department officer, working a secondary job at a Peachtree Road club, intervened in a disturbance involving security escorting a woman from the venue.

According to APD, Peterson rushed toward the scene, shouting at the security guard and officer, and physically pushed the officer while he attempted to manage the situation.

Body-cam footage, spanning two hours and obtained by Newsweek, captured Peterson demanding the officer release the other woman before pushing him. She was subsequently subdued, handcuffed, and placed in the back of a police vehicle.

Throughout the footage, Peterson refused to disclose her identity, urging officers to identify her through fingerprints. She also challenged the officer, instructing him to look up her background online.

The video concludes with Peterson being booked into custody by officers, where she protested against being touched and was ultimately charged with battery and obstruction of a law enforcement officer. She posted a $5,000 bond and was released later that day.
