Mexican actor Manuel Masalva, best known for his role as Ramón Arellano Félix in Narcos: Mexico, is currently in a medically induced coma after contracting a severe infection, fellow actor Mario Morán confirmed on Thursday.

In a TikTok video, Morán shared that Masalva had contracted a “very aggressive virus” while on vacation. While the exact location of the trip was not disclosed, Morán emphasized that the situation is serious and Masalva remains in critical condition. He was hospitalized and placed in a coma, with doctors closely monitoring his health.

“He’s fighting, and we’re hoping for the best,” Morán said in Spanish, asking fans to keep the actor in their thoughts and prayers. A GoFundMe campaign has also been set up to help cover Masalva’s medical expenses, as he is believed to still be overseas.

Masalva gained worldwide fame for his portrayal of Ramón Arellano Félix, a co-founder of the Tijuana Cartel, in Narcos: Mexico. In addition to the hit Netflix series, he has appeared in various TV shows, including La Guzmán, Mi corazón es Tuyo, and the LGBTQ+-focused Tengo que morir todas las noches.
