In a touching tribute, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg celebrated her husband Grand Duke Henri’s 70th birthday with a heartfelt message and a series of beautiful portraits shared on social media.
Posting to her official Instagram account on Wednesday, the 69-year-old royal shared three stunning images captured by photographer Sophie Margue.
The first photo showed the couple smiling warmly, the second captured an affectionate moment between the pair as they gazed into each other’s eyes, and the third featured the Grand Duke beaming in a sharp navy suit and matching tie.
In her caption, Maria Teresa wrote lovingly in French: “Très bel anniversaire à mon extraordinaire mari,” which translates to “A very happy birthday to my extraordinary husband.”
Royal fans were quick to flood the comments with birthday wishes. One wrote, “Happy happy birthday,” while another added, “Happy Birthday Your Highness Grand Duke Henri, you are a magnificent and blessed couple.” A third commented, “All my best wishes, Your Royal Highness, on your 70th birthday. Wishing you happiness and health.”
The celebration was extra special for the Luxembourg royal family, as it also marked the birthday of the couple’s youngest son, Prince Sébastien, who turned 33 on the same day.
To mark the occasion, Maria Teresa shared a rare family photo of herself, Grand Duke Henri, and Sébastien posing outdoors in a sunny woodland setting. The trio looked relaxed and happy, dressed casually in summer attire.
She captioned the snapshot: “Joyeux anniversaire à notre cher Sébastien” – “Happy birthday to our dear Sébastien.”
Together, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa and Grand Duke Henri are proud parents of five children: Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Prince Félix, Prince Louis, Princess Alexandra, and Prince Sébastien.
Their growing family also includes eight grandchildren, who are often kept out of the public eye but are cherished deeply by the royal couple.
