A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Pulikunnu near Ettumanoor, India, where a 34-year-old woman and her two young daughters reportedly died by suicide after entering a river on Tuesday afternoon, April 15.

The victims have been identified as Jis Mol Thomas, a lawyer and former vice-president of the Mutholi Panchayat (2019–20), and her daughters, five-year-old Neha and two-year-old Ponnu.

According to initial reports, Jis Mol arrived at the riverbank with her children on a motorbike and entered the water at a local bathing ghat around 1:30 p.m.

The tragedy came to light when local residents spotted a body floating in the river. A subsequent search led to the recovery of all three bodies.

Police were alerted and promptly arrived at the scene, transferring the remains to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Authorities suspect marital issues may have played a role in the incident. Jis Mol’s husband, Jimmy Thonnanmavunkal, is a bus operator on the Kottayam–Ayarkunnam route.

A case of unnatural death has been registered, and a full investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
