Cristiano Ronaldo has ignited fresh speculation about his future after posting a cryptic message hinting that his time with Al-Nassr may be coming to an end.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Portuguese legend wrote: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”
The post came shortly after Al-Nassr suffered a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Al-Fateh, squandering a 2-1 lead in the final 10 minutes. The loss sealed a third-place finish for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, behind Al-Ittihad and champions Al-Hilal.
At 40 years old, Ronaldo’s message has fueled talk of a possible move, with fans and pundits alike speculating whether he’s preparing for one last career challenge. He joined the Saudi side in early 2023 following a turbulent second spell at Manchester United.
Despite Al-Nassr falling short in the title race, Ronaldo had an impressive season individually—finishing as the league’s top scorer with 24 goals. Yet, the absence of silverware may have left the five-time Ballon d’Or winner hungry for more.
The post also comes amid surprising comments from FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who suggested Ronaldo could still feature in this summer’s expanded Club World Cup in the U.S., even though Al-Nassr failed to qualify.
“Ronaldo might play for one of the teams,” Infantino said during an interview with streamer IShowSpeed. “There are discussions… if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup—who knows?”
