Hollywood star Eva Longoria is turning the page on a certain chapter of her career — and motherhood is the reason why.
In a candid interview with Byrdie, the Desperate Housewives actress shared how raising her six-year-old son, Santiago, has significantly influenced her views on her public image and professional choices.
“I think, ‘Oh God, he’s going to see this one day,’” Longoria said, reflecting on some of her past revealing photo shoots.
She shares Santiago with her husband, José Antonio “Pepe” Bastón. “I definitely think more about what I want out in the world because my son is going to see it. I think about whether he’d be proud or maybe even embarrassed.”
Now 50, Longoria says both motherhood and hitting the milestone birthday have shifted her priorities.
“When you’re young, you should say ‘yes’ to every opportunity so you can figure out what you want to do in life,” she explained. “Now that I’m 50, I’m prioritizing differently. I’m curating my life to be very specific to what I want the next 50 years to look like.”
That shift includes spending more time with family, working less, and making deliberate, meaningful choices — a luxury, she admits, that comes with years of hard work and financial stability.
“I’m doing more of what I love and being present with my family,” she said. “Being financially secure helps with those decisions, but I feel I’ve earned the right to say ‘no’ now.”
Longoria recently celebrated her 50th birthday with a glamorous weekend in Miami, complete with multiple events, outfit changes, and heartfelt moments with her son by her side.
Santiago has also started joining his mother at public events — the pair recently walked the red carpet together at the Global Gift Gala in Geneva, where Longoria wore a shimmering Elie Saab gown and her son looked dapper in a blazer and long shorts.
As she embraces this new phase of life, Longoria says motherhood remains the guiding force behind her personal and professional decisions.
