A male intruder was arrested Monday, May 5, after crashing his vehicle through the gates of actress Jennifer Aniston’s $21 million Bel-Air estate.
Aniston, 56, best known for her role on Friends, was home at the time of the incident. The suspect, believed to be in his 70s, breached the property shortly after noon, according to reports.
TMZ reports that Aniston’s private security team responded swiftly, removing the driver from the vehicle and holding him at gunpoint until the Los Angeles Police Department arrived. He was taken into custody without further incident.
LAPD spokesperson Officer Jeff Lee confirmed the event occurred around 12:20 p.m. PT. Authorities responded to a call about a “burglary suspect” who had “rammed his vehicle through the gate” of the residence.
Fortunately, Aniston did not come into contact with the suspect, and police confirmed she was unharmed.
The suspect did not gain entry into the home itself, but was booked on felony property damage charges due to the destruction caused. LAPD officials stated the intruder was detained by on-site security until officers arrived.
“The resident was home at the time,” the LAPD public information officer said. “A security guard on premises was able to detain the suspect until officers arrived.”
Although law enforcement sources indicated the man has a minor criminal history, there is currently no evidence suggesting he was specifically targeting Aniston. However, insiders told ABC7 that the crash into her gate did not appear accidental.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released the suspect’s name or motive.
