U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a fierce attack on key figures from Joe Biden’s administration, accusing them of treason over immigration policies—while simultaneously offering unexpected sympathy to Biden in light of his recent cancer diagnosis.
Trump, known for his hardline stance on immigration, doubled down on his promise to carry out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history. He criticized Biden’s team for “open border” policies that he says have severely undermined national security. However, Trump notably shifted his tone when addressing Biden’s health and cognitive condition.
Following reports that President Biden has been diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer, Trump posted on Truth Social, suggesting that the immigration crisis was not Biden’s doing, but rather the work of aides who allegedly exploited his cognitive decline.
“The Joe Biden that everybody knew would never allow drug dealers, gang members, and the mentally insane to come into our Country unchecked and unvetted,” Trump wrote. “It was not his idea to open the border… It was the people who knew he was cognitively impaired and took over the autopen. This is treason at the highest level!”
Trump accused unnamed handlers of effectively hijacking the presidency, using Biden’s mental decline as cover. He claimed their actions have cost the country “hundreds of billions of dollars” and called for harsh consequences: “Something very severe should happen to these treasonous thugs that wanted to destroy our country.”
This accusation comes amid reports that Congressman James Comer, Chair of the House Oversight Committee, attempted to subpoena Biden aides Annie Tomasini, Anthony Bernal, and Ashley Williams over the alleged misuse of autopen—a device used to sign documents automatically. The White House reportedly blocked those subpoenas.
The conservative Oversight Project also weighed in, stating: “WHOEVER CONTROLLED THE AUTOPEN CONTROLLED THE PRESIDENCY,” underscoring the claim that unelected aides held undue influence.
Despite the attacks on Biden’s team, Trump expressed a degree of personal compassion for Biden himself. Referring to Biden as “a very nice man” in the past, Trump also recalled that Biden called him after the 2024 assassination attempt and “couldn’t have been nicer.”
However, Trump questioned the timeline of Biden’s diagnosis. “It takes a long time to get to that situation,” he said, referring to Biden’s stage 4 prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones. “I’m surprised the public wasn’t notified a long time ago… Someone is going to have to speak to his doctor.”
The White House has stated that Biden was only diagnosed last week after an abnormal nodule was discovered. It also revealed he had not undergone prostate screening since 2014. Biden’s cancer is rated a 9 on the Gleason scale—one of the most aggressive forms.
Amid these developments, Trump wasted no time in reviving his immigration crackdown. On his first day back in office, he declared a national emergency at the southern border and began reversing Biden-era policies—such as the CBP One app for asylum appointments and the parole program for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
Trump vowed to eliminate those programs, claiming they enabled mass illegal migration and promising to remove over a million migrants from the country.
As Biden faces serious health challenges and his administration endures renewed scrutiny, Trump’s blend of criticism and sympathy reflects a complex, high-stakes political moment that is likely to intensify in the months ahead.
