Nigerian rapper and songwriter Lil Kesh has opened up about his struggles with mental health, revealing his ongoing battle with anxiety and self-identified ADHD in a revealing new interview.
Speaking candidly, the artist shared, “I don’t like to identify as ADHD, but I have ADHD.” While he hasn’t received an official diagnosis, Lil Kesh explained, “I diagnosed myself, but trust me, I know.”
He acknowledged that many people casually claim to have ADHD, but emphasized that his experience goes beyond surface-level symptoms. “Everybody has a particular level of ADHD to them. But it’s bad when it is a disorder. I’ve had my fair share of that disorder right from when I was a kid,” he said.
The rapper also discussed the impact of fame and personal hurdles on his mental health, citing anxiety as a major challenge. One of his biggest triggers, he revealed, is uncertainty. “I feel like not knowing, lack of clarity… that’s one thing that can give me anxiety,” he said.
He added that gaining clarity often brings him a sense of peace: “Once I know what it is that I’m dealing with or what type of emotion I’m actually feeling or what my problem really is, that is half solved.”
The interview offered a rare, vulnerable glimpse into the rapper’s personal life, shedding light on mental health challenges that often go unspoken in the entertainment industry.
