The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old woman, identified as Gift, for allegedly biting off the tip of her partner’s genitals during a domestic altercation in the Mile 3 area of Diobu, Port Harcourt.
The incident, which occurred on Bishop Okoye Street—a densely populated part of the city—sparked widespread shock among residents after news of the confrontation surfaced.
According to local sources, the dispute began when Gift’s partner, identified only as Sunday, requested s*x. Gift allegedly refused, accusing him of frequently using performance-enhancing substances that led to prolonged and uncomfortable encounters.
A resident, speaking anonymously, told reporters that the argument escalated, and in the course of the altercation, Gift bit off the tip of Sunday’s genitals.
Sunday’s cries for help reportedly drew the attention of neighbors, some of whom attempted to intervene and retaliate against Gift before officers from the Nkpolu Police Division arrived at the scene. The police arrested the suspect and restored order.
Gift was taken into custody, while Sunday was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Confirming the incident on Friday, May 16, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, stated: “Yes, I can confirm the incident. The suspect, aged 43, has been arrested and an investigation is ongoing.”
