Princess Kate has received an extraordinary gift that perfectly suits her passion for gardening. On Friday, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) revealed it has named a rose in her honour.
The flower, Catherine’s Rose, has been bred by Harkness Roses and is dedicated to “celebrating the incredible healing power of nature,” while highlighting the significant role that spending time outdoors plays in supporting our mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
The stunning coral-pink blooms of Catherine’s Rose are described as having a “rich perfume with hints of Turkish Delight and mango,” making it a true sensory delight.
A touching aspect of this tribute is that proceeds from the sale of the rose will benefit The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The funds will help establish a specialized prehabilitation and rehabilitation training program for clinical teams nationwide, ensuring patients with cancer receive the support they need both during and after treatment.
Kate, who is in remission after receiving cancer treatment at the Royal Marsden last year, made a surprise visit to the hospital in January. She and her husband, Prince William, serve as joint patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, expressed her gratitude, saying: “Every rose sold will help The Royal Marsden establish a unique training programme for clinical teams, which makes such a difference to patient care.”
The rose will be available for pre-order from Friday, May 9, through roses.co.uk and rhsplants.co.uk, with deliveries expected in Autumn 2025. For each plant sold, £5 will be donated to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
