VE Day: The Prince And Princess Of Wales Join King Charles For Commemorations And Flypast

Prince William and Princess Kate reunited with King Charles and Queen Camilla to mark VE Day, joining other senior royals for the day’s commemorative events.

Prince William and Princess Kate attended the military procession outside Buckingham Palace with their children—Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—watching from the Queen Victoria Memorial alongside the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence, and the Duke of Kent.

The young royals were seen warmly interacting with veterans seated nearby, smiling and waving as the military parade passed. At one point, Prince William was spotted explaining the different drummers to his children, with young Prince Louis charmingly brushing tree pollen off his father’s jacket.

Following the procession, the royal family appeared on the palace balcony to view a dramatic flypast by the Red Arrows, featuring both historic and modern military aircraft.

Later, the King and Queen hosted a tea party at the palace for around 50 veterans and members of the Second World War generation. Guests included veterans from the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces, members of the Women’s Royal Naval Service (Wrens), the attending royals, and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.

Prince George made a surprise appearance at the reception, joining his parents in conversations with veterans.

VE Day marks the Allied victory in Europe, celebrating Nazi Germany’s official surrender in World War II.
