American media entrepreneur and Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy sparked buzz online during a candid chat with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast.
Portnoy revealed that despite their divorce, his ex-wife still has access to his bank account — a sign of the deep trust he continues to have in her.
“She was there when we couldn’t even afford a hamburger… when we were crashing at the in-laws’ place,” he shared, highlighting how she stood by him through the early struggles of his career. “We separated just as things were starting to take off, so she missed out on a lot of that success. That’s not fair.”
Although they’re no longer married, Portnoy emphasized they remain close friends. “If she called me right now and said ‘I need you,’ I’d be there.”
Sharpe, surprised by Portnoy’s generosity, asked if he’d be okay with his ex using his money for something extravagant, like a lavish wedding. Portnoy didn’t hesitate: “Yes. 100%.”
While their marriage didn’t last, loyalty remains the foundation of their bond.
