A routine day on the Las Vegas Strip turned into a nightmare on Sunday, June 8, when a gunman shot and killed two people outside the Bellagio Hotel in a brazen act of violence that unfolded in front of stunned tourists — and was partially livestreamed on YouTube.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite rapid emergency efforts, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Video clips shared online captured the chaos. One shows crowds of unsuspecting tourists strolling the Strip moments before gunfire erupts. In the footage, a man appears on camera laughing, then suddenly reacts to something off-screen and runs.
Moments later, another man walks into frame, raises a firearm, and opens fire. Panic erupts as screams fill the air and bystanders flee. One woman can be heard shouting, “Are you f***ing kidding me?!”
Another clip shows police officers attempting CPR on one of the victims on the pavement outside the luxury hotel.
Authorities believe the gunman and the victims knew each other, and that the attack stemmed from a personal dispute, possibly fueled by an online argument. Investigators have not yet released the suspect’s identity but confirmed a manhunt is underway.
“This was not a random shooting. It appears to be targeted,” LVMPD officials said in a press briefing.
The public and tourists alike have been left shaken by the brazen nature and public setting of the attack — and its partial broadcast in real-time on a widely viewed YouTube stream.
Police are urging anyone with information, eyewitness accounts, or video evidence to come forward as the investigation remains active.
