President Volodymyr Zelensky ‘READY’ for agreemment with Putin

There is a ‘real progress’ made during a White House summit with European leaders aimed at bringing an end to the war in Ukraine.

Speaking outside the White House, President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ‘ready’ for a long-awaited bilateral meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

But the Ukrainian admitted that no details had been agreed as yet.

The prospect of a peace-seeking summit between the pair was praised by many leaders, including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, as a key success of today’s meeting in Washington DC.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer was one of several European leaders that accompanied Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron and Nato secretary general Mark Rutte too were in attendance for the discussions in Washington on Monday.

US President Donald Trump said he spoke directly with Vladimir Putin to begin planning a meeting between the Russian leader and Zelensky, which will then be followed by a three-way meeting involving himself.

He also said Moscow will ‘accept’ multinational efforts to guarantee Ukraine’s security.
