US President Donald Trump has rampened up his threat to build an air filter barrier between the United States and Canada.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform Saturday evening to post an AI slop image of a giant pleated air filter along the U.S. border with Canada.
This comes after Trump declared that Canada has unfairly discriminated against American autos, alcohol and dairy products.
The photo is a sign at the base of the imaginary structure — reminiscent of the still-unfinished border wall with Mexico that Trump made a cornerstone of his winning 2016 campaign — calls it the ‘North America Air Filter Barrier’ and carries the slogan, ‘Clean Air. Clear Borders.’
The president on Monday imposed a 50 percent tariff on Canada over wildfire smoke which has been choking US cities.
The White House said in a fact sheet that the tariffs would go into effect in 30 days and cover ‘products ranging from wine to hockey sticks to cement.’
A Trump administration official said the US president had also requested that his aides look into additional tariffs on Canada after accusing the country of ‘coming in and poisoning our air.’
