Ed Sheeran is at risk of being canceled amid Macklemore controversy.
All of Ed Sheeran’s remaining support acts have withdrawn from his North and South American tour in solidarity with Macklemore, who was dropped from the lineup following backlash over his on-stage pro-Palestinian remarks.
Macklemore shared a statement Monday alleging that he was kicked off Sheeran’s US tour dates because of what he said on stage in support of Palestinians while opening for the singer in New Jersey earlier this month.
Later that day, Sheeran, 35, addressed the 43-year-old rapper being removed from the tour with his own statement which read that Macklemore’s speech had upset the owners of venues they were set to play while reminding fans he will never personally take a publicly political stance.
However, that response did not seem to be good enough as musician and Billie Eilish’s brother/music partner Finneas led the four remaining acts who put out separate statements announcing that they will not continue with their dates on the stadium Loop Tour.
The 25-year-old Los Angeles native wrote: ‘Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed.
‘I have decided to withdraw from my upcoming tour dates with Ed Sheeran. I stand with Palestine and its people.’
Also, Aaron Rowe, Lukas Graham, and Beoga also put out statements on Instagram Tuesday announcing that they are pulling out of the remaining concert dates.
