U.S. President Donald Trump says he’s the only one that can ensure the safe use of AI in the United States because of his ‘high IQ,’ while issuing a stark warning over a ‘sick conspiracy’ about China.
It’s the third time is as many days that Trump has pushed back against calls for AI safety regulations.
Trump write on his Truth Social platform: ‘The only control or “guardrails” that AI needs is a strong and smart (High IQ!) president, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.
His warning against regulations comes after mounting concerns that the technology could destroy the world by 2030 – as the AI race between countries heats up.
Trump directly named AI firm Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei as an AI alarmist who poses as a ‘perfect little angel.’
‘The Trump Administration has stopped AI “people” from doing bad, or potentially bad, “things,“ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a “perfect little angel” – and we will continue to do so!
‘Trump also alleged that ‘there is a sick conspiracy going on against AI data centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China.’
The Trump administration has held that China stands to benefit from the US slow-rolling its AI deployment.
Republicans have posited that anti-data center protests have been propped up by Chinese officials.
‘Whoever wins AI, wins,’ Trump continued. ‘We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, beware!’
