Trump FIRES Chief of Staff Susie Wiles after midterms disaster and names successor

11

US President Donald Trump has replaced White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles with Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller on Friday, November 6, 2026, following a major Republican defeat in the midterm elections.

‘I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social.

‘Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!’

Stephen Miller, 41, a long-time Trump adviser and the architect of his hardline immigration and mass-deportation policies, officially steps into the role on Monday, November 9, 2026.

The shake-up came Friday afternoon, just days after the Democrats’ massive election victory handed the president and Republicans a stunning defeat.

The margins of the left’s victory earlier this week were so large that it may end up keeping Republicans out of the congressional majority for the better part of the next decade – a tough pill to swallow for many on the right who have called for Trump to make changes.

Although the sudden switch was shocking, it was reported in June that Wiles was quietly prepping an exit plan for after the midterms. At the time, the White House had denied it.

Wiles’ exit coincides with several other high-profile departures across the administration, including Civil Rights Division chief Harmeet Dhillon, National Security Division head John Eisenberg, and U.S. Attorney Jason Reding Quiñones.
