Elon Musk and James Franco will reportedly
not testify as defense witnesses for Amber Heard during her
defamation trial against ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The Tesla billionaire, who recently launched a successful
bid to buy Twitter, and the 44-year-old actor were named on a list of
potential witnesses by Amber’s legal team, but sources say they are not
expected to take to the stand.
According to The Independent, neither Elon nor
James will appear in person or via video link at the highly-publicized trial,
which began earlier this month.
No reason was given for being taken off the list of
potential witnesses, ahead of Amber’s legal team beginning their defense next
week.
The actress began dating businessman Elon around the time
of her public split from Johnny in 2016 and has been long-time friends with
actor James.
However, the actor, 58, accused his ex-wife Amber of having
an affair with the 127 Hours star.
Johnny, 58, is suing the actress for libel over a 2018
article she wrote in The Washington Post, which his lawyers say falsely implies
he physically and sexually abused her.
Amber, 36, is expected to take to the stand on Monday and
testify, just days after ex-husband Johnny finished four days of testimony at
the court in Virginia.
