The killers of a pensioner filmed themselves dancing in the front driveway of her £1.3million home after strangling her with a hairdryer cord and dumping her body in a wheelie bin.
Detectives said the TikTok video betrayed the ‘callous’ nature of Louise Kam’s murderers delivery driver Mohamed El-Abboud, 28, and kebab shop chef Kusai Al-Jundi, 25, who plotted to steal her live savings.
In the first video seen by detectives, Romanian national El-Abboud is seen boastfully showing people around the three-bedroom detached house and treating it as his own.
The second TikTok video, taken the day after the murder, showed him dancing on the driveway in new clothes, having moved Ms Kam’s BMW and sold it to an unsuspecting buyer.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie had taken over the inquiry after the wealthy 71-year-old businesswoman was reported missing by her son in July 2021.
Ms Kam’s family had become suspicious about text messages purporting to be from her suggesting she had fled to China after stealing millions of pounds.
In reality, she had been tricked by two fraudsters and lured to a meeting at her rental property in Barnet, north London, where she was strangled with a hairdryer cord and unceremoniously dumped in a wheelie bin.
Louise’s black BMW was recovered by police on 28 July in Edgware. Her body was discovered on 1 August 2021 in a wheelie bin in Wood End Road, Harrow.
They lured her to the house in Barnet after spending months trying to trick her into signing her £4.6 million fortune over to them.
Mrs Kam wanted to sell the properties to give money to her children and Al-Jundi offered her £6 million, far above the market value.
Once inside they strangled her before dumping the body in a wheelie bin to be taken away as rubbish.
El-Abboud posted videos of himself dancing with his scantily-clad girlfriend at the north London house who later turned on him to become the prosecution’s key witness.
Abboud’s girlfriend, Ms Amariucai who is a Romanian national and part-time model became a key prosecution witness in the case, was at the house in Barnet when Mrs Kam arrived, thinking Al-Jundi and El-Abboud were about to make her a very wealthy woman.
Later that day El-Abboud drove Ms Amariucai back to Coventry and confessed to being the one who had strangled her to death, according to Daily Mail.
‘He said he could not really believe that he had killed that lady,’ Ms Amariucai told the jury.
‘He told me it was to do with a business agreement between the Chinese woman and Kusai.
‘He said he (El-Abboud) had taken her from behind. He said Kusai told him to kill the Chinese woman. Kusai was going to give him a share of the money.’
The murderous pair were jailed for life on Wednesday for their horrific crime, and ordered to serve a minimum of 35 years before they can be considered by parole by the Recorder of London Judge Mark Lucraft Wednesday.
Judge Mark Lucraft KC told how Al-Jundi had been described by another woman he had tricked as a Walter Mitty character.
Sentencing them to a minimum of 35 years, he said: ‘From the time you were first put in touch with Louise Kam earlier in 2021, Al-Jundi you told her lie after lie.
‘You claimed to be a person of means with the backing of a multi-millionaire girlfriend who was going to fund the acquisition of her properties at a level in excess of the market value, so that Louise could provide homes for her two sons and you take your share.
‘In fact you had no assets of your own and no rich girlfriend.
‘On the material presented at trial I am satisfied that by July 26, 2021, Al-Jundi you had resolved to kill Louise Kam.
‘You plainly told El-Abboud that you would make a significant amount of money from Louise Kam’s death, and that a share of that money was to be El-Abboud’s reward for killing her.
‘A woman of 71 who loved and cared for her sons… suffered brutal injuries at your hands and then with complete disregard, you sought to dispose of her remains.’
In a victim impact statement, Ms Kam’s son Gregory Kam said the family had been left in a state of “disbelief” at what had happened to her.
He said: ‘I deeply regret I was not able to do enough at the time to prevent my mother from falling for the lies of this wolf in sheep’s clothing.
‘In addition to the initial shocking news of our mother’s disappearance and subsequent news of her murder, I was not only shocked but further angered and sickened to discover defendant one (Al-Jundi) enlisted the help of an accomplice (El-Abboud) to trick, entrap, overpower and murder a pension-age woman in her own home under the guise of what was supposed to be a business deal.’
During the trial, prosecutor Oliver Glasgow KC had told the jury that Al-Jundi was ‘prepared to stop at nothing’ and his friend, El-Abboud, was ‘more than happy’ to help in his fraudulent plan.
They targeted the trusting mother-of-two, who had previously owned a catering business with her ex-husband before going into rental properties, LBC reported.
She owned two north London properties – the £1.3 million house in Barnet and a shop with three flats in Willesden.
A friend had introduced her to Al-Jundi, who worked at the Yasmeen Sham Restaurant in Willesden and lived with his mother, wife and children in Harrow.
Al-Jundi boasted of having a wealthy girlfriend called Anna who was willing to put up £4.6 million to buy Ms Kam’s properties in a deal which involved avoiding tax.
Mr Kam had warned his mother it could be a scam but she was eager to go ahead, with the encouragement of her friend, jurors heard.
But what seemed to be a golden opportunity was a sham as Al-Jundi never intended to part with a penny, the court was told.
The scam came to a head when Ms Kam made it clear she would not sign over the properties.
A meeting was arranged at the Barnet house but by the time Ms Kam realised something was amiss, it was too late.
Ms Kam was captured on CCTV entering the address on July 26 and was never seen alive again.
There was a violent struggle and Ms Kam was strangled with electrical cord, jurors were told.
As part of the cover-up, Al-Jundi laid a false trail of messages on Ms Kam’s phone, claiming she had gone to China.
El-Abboud moved Ms Kam’s BMW car from the driveway of the Barnet house and sold it via Facebook Marketplace to an unsuspecting buyer for £1,450, the court was told.
He went on to confess to Ms Kam’s killing, saying he was acting on Al-Jundi’s orders, it was claimed.
Mr Kam was in hospital with Covid but became so concerned for his mother that he reported her missing to police.
A search of her property led to the discovery of the hairdryer dumped in a hedge and Ms Kam’s body was eventually discovered at Al-Jundi’s parents’ home where he lives, hidden beneath turf in the wheelie.
And the pair turned on each other in court, blaming each other for the cold-blooded killing in a so-called ‘cut throat’ defence.
Both men sobbed in the dock as they were convicted by the jury in January.
Mastermind Al-Jundi, a father-of-three who lived with his parents, celebrated the killing by buying his girlfriend a pair of diamond earrings worth £580.
Prosecutor Oliver Glasgow told the court this was ‘a generous gift for someone who had no money, but he no doubt believed that, with Louise Kam dead and armed with a signed power of attorney, he was in possession of two valuable properties.
El-Abboud posted frequently on TikTok, even sharing a video in which he repeatedly thrust his groin towards the camera on the last day Mrs Kam was seen alive.
