5x bigger than Titanic -The WORLD’S LARGEST CRUISE SHIP is almost ready to set sail

111 years after Titanic… New world’s largest ship, 5 times bigger than Titanic and will comfortably hold about 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew

The world’s biggest cruise ship dubbed ‘Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas’ has completed its first set of sea trials and is joining the fleet in 2024, according to Royal Caribbean statement.

In the meantime, Icon of the Seas has been under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard.

During four days of preliminary tests last week, more than 450 specialists tested the ship’s technical areas, like the main engines, bow and propellers, as well as noise and vibration levels, the company said.

Icon of the Seas will next undergo a second round of sea trials later this year.

‘During her first set of sea trials, Icon of the Seas traveled hundreds of miles, during which the main engines, hull, brake systems, steering, noise, and vibration levels were all tested,’ the statement said.

‘Everything was done on time as outlined in the schedule, despite her departure being delayed due to wind conditions.’

Icon of the Seas will visit destinations like Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay, as well as The Bahamas, Cozumel, Mexico, Philipsburg, St. Maarten, and Roatan, Honduras.

The ship has 18 passenger decks with 20 decks in total and eight ‘neighborhoods’ for guests to enjoy.

It measures 1,198 feet in length – which will dethrone the current world’s largest ship Wonder of the Seas at 1,188-feet.

111 years after Titanic… New world’s largest ship, 5 times bigger than Titanic and will comfortably hold about 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew.

It was built in Finland weighing in at around 250,000 gross tonnes (over 280,000 tons). It boasts the largest cruise ship waterpark, over 40 ways to dine, seven pools, 20 decks and more amenities.

Royal Caribbean International is pitching Icon of the Seas as the cruise line’s evolutionary peak, using the latest technology and building on 50 years of learnings through the company’s history.

‘We are positioning it as the ultimate family vacation and when you step back and look at all the energy and time that has gone into creating this ship it is mind-blowing,’ Bayley said.
