Nigerian Actor, Junior Pope Dies In A Boat Accident

It has been reported that the actor passed away on Wednesday afternoon while on a boat excursion for a film shoot.

Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, verified to Channels Television that the actor’s body has been placed in the morgue.

Furthermore, he confirmed that one crew member’s body was retrieved, while the bodies of three other crew members remain missing.

The incident occurred when their boat, carrying a total of five individuals, capsized following a collision with another boat in the vicinity of the River Niger area in Anambra State.

Less than 24 hours ago, the actor put up a video of himself in a speed boat with no life jacket on with the caption: “See me lamenting the risk we take to entertain you, crossing river 9ja yesterday with no life jacket…who does that?”

Other Deaths

In the previous month, esteemed actors including Mr. Ibu and Sisi Quadri passed away.

In January, the industry mourned the loss of Deji Aderemi, famously known as Olofa Ina, and in February, Ethel Ekpe, renowned for her portrayal of ‘Segi’ on the Nigerian Television Authority sitcom ‘Basi and Company’, bid farewell.

Nollywood actors have begun sharing condolences on their social media platforms to pay tribute to the departed actor.
