Mike Tindall has addressed his wife Zara’s candid comment that she found him “boring” when they first met back in 2003.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain to promote his annual golf fundraiser, the father of three explained that their initial conversation was indeed dull — but only because he had just been dropped from the Rugby World Cup semi-final and wasn’t exactly in the best spirits.
When host Kate Garraway mentioned, “She said when she first met you she found you boring,” Mike replied, “No, I think the boring chat was the first time we met because I’d just been dropped from the Rugby World Cup semi-final, so I probably really wasn’t in the mood at that point.”
He added with a smile, “I’d hope I’ve made up for it since then, and she’s probably gone the other way from her first thoughts.”
The chat then shifted to Zara’s recent 44th birthday celebrations. Mike shared a peek into the festivities, joking, “It was her birthday yesterday and I truly spoiled her by bringing her to the world-class Belfry. She got to hang out with 70 people she only sees once a year — exactly what she wanted for her birthday.”
To mark the occasion, Mike posted a sweet throwback photo of the couple from last year’s Celebrity Golf Classic.
The snapshot showed them glowing with smiles and glasses of fizz in hand. Zara looked stunning in a raspberry ME+EM jumpsuit, while Mike sported dark trousers and a blush pink blazer.
In his heartfelt caption, Mike wrote: “Happy Birthday to the better Tindall. She’s even let me play golf on her birthday!”
Meanwhile, Mike’s fundraising event, Tindall Golf, shared a warm message on X: “It’s a VERY special day… Not only is it the day before the ISPS Handa Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic, BUT it’s Zara’s birthday! Happy Birthday Z.”
