A 20-year-old suspected drug dealer, Abdullahi A. Bawa, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly stabbing his friend, Baba Ali, to death during a dispute over Diazepam, a banned substance commonly abused as a hard drug.

The remand order was issued by Chief Magistrate Court II, presided over by A. M. Adamu, following Bawa’s arraignment by the Adamawa State Police Command.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Nunugi Tayeri, the incident occurred on April 25 in Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area. Bawa reportedly stabbed Baba Ali in the chest with a pair of scissors during an argument over ownership of the drug, resulting in Ali’s death.

The prosecutor further revealed that Bawa also stabbed a woman identified as Hasim, who is currently receiving medical treatment.

In the First Information Report (FIR) presented to the court, Inspector Tayeri stated that Bawa is facing charges of “causing grievous hurt and culpable homicide,” which violate Sections 218 and 191 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State.
