Fresh off celebrating Archie’s sixth birthday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are preparing for another special family moment this weekend: Mother’s Day in the U.S., which falls on Sunday, May 11.
No doubt Harry will take the opportunity to honour Meghan, who has often spoken candidly about the rewards and challenges of motherhood. Since welcoming Archie in May 2019 and daughter Lilibet in June 2021, the Duchess of Sussex has embraced family life while continuing her public work.
Reflecting on motherhood during her visit to Nigeria last year, Meghan said: “Being a mum has always been a dream of mine. And I’m so fortunate that we have two beautiful, healthy, very chatty, sweet children.”
She also acknowledged the ever-shifting balance between work and parenting, noting that priorities naturally evolve over time.
While last year’s Nigerian trip coincided with Mother’s Day, Meghan also gave a nod to British traditions earlier this March, marking UK Mothering Sunday with a post of a homemade lemon tart, captioned: “Our family tradition. Mothering Sunday in the UK.”
Since rejoining Instagram in January, Meghan has offered glimpses into her family’s life in Montecito, California—from crafting themed breakfasts with the kids to strawberry picking in their garden. However, she continues to protect her children’s privacy, never sharing full images of their faces.
Archie Turns Six
To mark Archie’s sixth birthday, Meghan shared a touching photo of her son watching a golden sunset.
In the caption, she wrote: “Our son. Our sun. Happy 6th birthday to Archie!
Thank you for all of the love, prayers, and warm wishes for our sweet boy. He’s six! Where did the time go?
“(And for all of you who came to celebrate with us at his party last weekend, thank you for making his birthday so incredibly special ❤️).”
