Reggae artist and TikTok personality Jabari Johnson, popularly known as Baba Skeng, was tragically shot and killed during a livestream on Monday, April 29, in Saint Andrew, Jamaica.
The 25-year-old was filming content with a fellow TikTok creator near Queenie’s Snack Shop on Red Hills Road when the fatal attack occurred. Chilling video footage captures Johnson laughing and chatting moments before a hooded gunman dressed in black stealthily approached from behind and opened fire.
Johnson was shot multiple times in the head and upper body, collapsing to the ground as screams erupted in the background. The assailant fled the scene on foot, and Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jamaican police have launched a full investigation into the shooting, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. Authorities are working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Baba Skeng was the son of well-known reggae artist Jah Mason. Speaking with The Jamaica Observer, his father confirmed the tragic loss but declined to offer further comments as the family mourns.
Reports indicate that Johnson was engaged in a livestreamed game with his friend at the time of the attack.
