American singer Chris Brown has been granted bail by a London court after being charged in connection with an alleged “unprovoked attack” at a nightclub in 2023.

On Wednesday, May 21, a London judge set Brown’s bail at £5 million, Reuters reports. The “Forever” singer must also surrender his passport when not traveling for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX Tour across North America and Europe, which is scheduled to begin on June 8.

Brown, who has yet to enter a plea, was required to pay an initial £4 million upfront, with the remaining £1 million due within seven days.

The two-time Grammy winner was arrested on May 15 at his hotel in Manchester on suspicion of grievous bodily harm linked to an alleged assault that took place at a nightclub in February 2023, according to The Independent.

Prosecutors say Brown attacked music promoter Abraham Diaw with a tequila bottle in the incident, describing the act as “unprovoked,” Reuters reported.

Additionally, Brown’s friend and fellow musician Omololu Akinlolu, known as HoodyBaby, was charged on May 17 with causing grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the same incident.

Brown was initially denied bail during a hearing on May 16 and was remanded in custody, threatening his tour plans alongside Summer Walker and Bryson Tiller.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 20 at Southwark Crown Court in London—falling between two tour dates, June 19 in Cardiff and June 21 in London.
