Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, the trusted equerry and right-hand man to King Charles, has reportedly tied the knot in a private ceremony with his fiancée, PR executive Olivia Lewis.
According to The Mail on Sunday, the couple exchanged vows last weekend at St Mary’s Church in Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire. The wedding was followed by an intimate lunch and reception hosted at Olivia’s parents’ home.
Their engagement was formally announced in The Times in October 2024, which read: “The engagement is announced between Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Thompson of Morpeth, Northumberland, and Olivia Rose, daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Lewis OBE of Primrose Hill, London.”
Though they’ve kept a low profile, Johnny and Olivia were photographed together at Trooping the Colour in June last year.
Often referred to as the “hot equerry,” Johnny Thompson first gained public attention in 2018 while serving as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s bodyguard. His sharp looks and steady presence saw him go viral again in 2022 during key royal events, including those alongside King Charles.
His popularity even earned him a place in Tatler’s Social Power Index, where he was praised for his “fabulous sense of humour” and for looking “as good in a suit as he does a kilt.”
Johnny has been a prominent figure at major royal occasions, from the King’s coronation to international visits with Their Majesties to Germany, France, Northern Ireland, and most recently Canada. He also joined them for this year’s VE Day 80th anniversary commemorations.
Though discreet in his personal life, Thompson remains a visible and admired presence within the royal circle—now beginning a new chapter as a married man.
