A 30-year-old woman identified as Mavis Nkrumah is in police custody for allegedly pouring acid on her ex-boyfriend, Gideon Frimpong, during a confrontation over their breakup.
According to Police, the former couple met to resolve ongoing issues related to the end of their relationship.
The discussion then escalated into a heated argument, during which Ms. Nkrumah is said to have attacked Mr. Frimpong, a 29-year-old taxi driver, with the corrosive substance.
Mr. Frimpong sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Medical staff report that he is in stable condition but will require ongoing care due to the extent of the burns.
Following the attack, Ms. Nkrumah attempted to flee the scene but was subsequently apprehended by police.
The attacker is in custody of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command as investigations continue.
